Use as much electricity as you need!!
We live in a country where we are fortunate to have electricity whenever we need it, but there is no need to waste it. So if you don't need a light on, leave it off. Open the curtains if it's daylight, there's plenty of light coming in. If not, get by with a lamp rather than a main light. If you want a drink, fill the kettle to make just one cup. Don't waste and you'll also end up saving money.
Don't waste away ! ! !
Waste is probably the worst cause of the environmental problems we are facing. Because we are so quick to throw away food that has reached it's sell by date, or change a six month old mobile phone for the latest model, we are causing companies to use more energy in producing more goods to meet our demands for more products that often we don't really need. So by finishing off that salad in the fridge that's a day over it's sell by date but still perfectly good, or keeping your mobile for another few months, you're saving more energy than you realise.

Take a Walk ! ! !
Don't drive to the shops. It really is that simple and if you live close by, it is usually quicker than climbing in and out of the car and parking. Use the feet you were blessed with and you'll feel the health benefits as much as the environment will. Longer life for you and for the planet and think how fit you'll be.
Don't Recycle Regularly ! ! !
There is a real false economy in many green measures, such as the way some people recycle. There is little point in driving your newspapers around to the local tip, when your car will put out more CO2 than your recycling will save. Wait till you can fill half a dozen carrier bags with plastic bottles, glass, newspapers and anything else recyclable, then take them (and the plastic bags!) to the supermarket recycling facility next time you go shopping. And you'll save petrol on that extra trip.

Turn down the heat ! ! !
There is no point having big cosy jumpers if you don't get your money's worth. Turn off the heating and get cosy, you'll probably be warmer by being comfortably dressed than by wandering around in a t-shirt with the heating on full blast. When you do need the heating on, try turning it down just one degree. You'll barely notice a difference. The same goes for your washing machine. Use a cooler wash and you'll save even more.
Save Water, save energy ! ! !
Who would have thought that water is one of the biggest users of energy use. But to get water through the pipes into our homes and businesses, water companies have to use enormous power to pump vast quantities of water around. So save water, save energy, and if you're on a meter, save money.
